Lasertally is Windows desktop software that quotes laser-cut parts for fabrication shops. It reads a STEP, DXF, IGES or NC1 file, measures the pierce count, cut length, bend count and bounding box from the CAD solid, and prices the job against your own rate card. The separate Nest add-on then nests the won job on sheet or tube and posts the cut program.

It is not a marketplace and it does not take a cut of the work it prices. It is software you install, and the quotes it produces are yours.

Lasertally's quoting engine is calibrated to the cent against real fabrication-shop quotations, and its geometry engine is pinned to ground-truth pierce counts on real customer RFQ files. More than 1,800 automated tests enforce both on every release. If a build does not reproduce the reference quotes exactly, it does not ship.

Lasertally reads STEP (.step, .stp), IGES (.igs, .iges), DXF (.dxf) and DSTV NC1 (.nc1). It handles solids, 2D profiles and tube, including automatic tube-section detection. SAT and DWG are not supported: export STEP or DXF from any CAD package instead.

No. Lasertally runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11, 64-bit only, and the installer keeps itself up to date. macOS and Linux are not supported. Questions to hello@lasertally.app.

There is a free preview account. It takes one email, costs nothing and does not expire. It runs the entire quoting engine on your own files: Lasertally opens your STEP, DXF, IGES or NC1 parts, measures the pierce counts, cut lengths, bends and bounding boxes off the real geometry, and prices them against a rate card you configure. Nothing is a sample file and nothing is simulated.

What preview will not do is export. No quote PDF, no posted program, no nest output. That is the only difference between preview and a plan, and it is why there is no clock on it: you can take as long as you like checking Lasertally against a job you have already quoted by hand. Lasertally costs $479 a month for Sheet, $479 a month for Tube, or $759 a month for Complete, which is both. The Nest nesting and CAM add-on is $349 a month on top of any plan. Every plan includes five seats, and extra seats are $49 a month each. Annual billing costs ten months for twelve. There are no per-quote fees and no percentage of the jobs you win.

No. Lasertally is a flat subscription with unlimited quotes and zero transaction fees. Some quoting platforms charge per part quoted, or take a percentage of your web-store orders. Lasertally never does. Your margin on a job is none of our business.

Yes. Every rate is editable: programming, loading, run rates, pierce rates, travel, admin, material markup, lead-time tiers, per-machine rates, secondary operations such as etching, powder coat, welding and tapping, plus custom operations you define yourself. If it goes on a rate card, Lasertally can price it.

Every part you analyze is encrypted on your machine with AES-256-GCM and uploaded, so a quote priced at the front desk arrives on the shop floor with its geometry intact, and so a part can be re-opened from another seat.

What that protects, stated plainly: the ciphertext lives in one store and the key in another, so a breach of the file store alone yields noise. What it does not protect: Lasertally issues the key, so Lasertally is technically able to decrypt, and anyone who fully compromised our backend could too. This is not end-to-end encryption and we will not describe it as such. It is the same posture as every other cloud CAD tool, said out loud instead of implied away.

Lasertally Nest posts rotary G-code with the axis word, units and rollover your controller expects, and it also writes the whole nest as an unrolled DXF, which imports into TubesT, CypTube or any CAM package. So you can run a job through the DXF on day one while the G-code post is dialed in for your particular controller.

It does not write .zx or .ctds. Those formats are undocumented, and a guessed implementation produces files that open, look plausible and cut wrong.

Your quotes and rate card live in local files on your own machine and stay yours. You do not get locked out either: a lapsed subscription falls back to a preview account, which still opens your files, measures them and prices them, and simply will not export a quote PDF or post a program. And if you have subscribed for 12 months or more, the version you are running becomes yours to keep forever, with your login staying active for it at no charge after you cancel. No cloud quoting tool can offer that, because there is nothing to keep when the tab closes.
